Permanent Mexico Resident Card Process

Firstly, the process for PR Mexico Card starts in a Mexican Consulate in the USA. Secondly, the Mexican Consulate issues a PR  Mexico Visa for six months. Thirdly,  and most importantly,  you must exchange the PR Mexico Visa for a Permanent  Resident Card in the closest  INM Immigration office where you will reside.

Permanent Mexico Residency through Retirement or Pension Income

Who qualifies for Permanent Mexico Residency Visa?


  • Retirees or pensioners who can prove a  monthly net income of $5,458.00 with six consecutive bank statements before applying.


  • Retirees or pensioners who can prove investments or bank accounts averaging $218,357.00,  per month,  for twelve consecutive months before applying.   


  • Applicants  with  Mexican Spouse or Children 


  • Spouse or Children of Permanent Mexico Resident Card Holders 

Permanent Mexico Residency through Mexican Spouse or Permanent Resident Card Holder

Applicants can apply for Permanent Residency if they can prove they are married to a Mexican national or Permanent Resident Card Holder.  Under this category, the spouse will be granted a temporary residency for two years,  then apply for permanent residency.


Through Mexican Spouse or  Permanent Resident Card Holder, the process can start directly at the INM Mexico Immigration office. 

Permanent Mexico Residency through Mexican born children permanent residency

Regardless of age, applicants with Mexican-born children can apply for permanent residency. This process can start directly at the INM Mexico Immigration office.
