Replacement Procedures

Inside Mexico


If the loss or theft of the Temporary or Permanent Resident Card occurs within Mexican territory, the cardholder must take the following steps:


  1. Personal Appearance: The cardholder must appear personally at the immigration authority.
  2. Testimony: Provide a formal statement detailing the theft or loss.


Outside Mexico


For incidents occurring outside of Mexico:


  1. Consular Application: The cardholder should apply for a replacement at the nearest Mexican Consulate or Embassy where the incident occurred.
